Law.com has an interesting article covering the use of Internet based software, think Google Apps, as well as a great explanation of why we believe businesses should be thinking of moving their IT infrastructure to the Internet. As the article says,

“…envision a reality where your IT infrastructure actually grows smaller and easier to manage; where you can have the latest, greatest technology — without the cost or complexity of on-premise systems.”

In addition to doing a good job of providing a non-technical explanation of the concept of “cloud computing” or SaaS (Software as a Service) or as OMBNexGen calls it, the Internet as the computer, the Law.com article covers the many advantages of using Internet based applications.

The article also covers a host of cost savings opportunities through the use of server virtualization and open source software. While we believe there are some valid and useful opportunities within the virtualization and open source product markets, our fundamental belief is it is still better for organizations to move towards Internet based IT infrastructure.
